BRITISH rockers Coldplay will return to Australia for the first time in two years next February as part of their Viva La Vida tour, in support of their album of the same name.
The album has topped the charts in Britain, Australia and the United States.
The UK band will kick off the four-city jaunt on February 27 at the Burswood Dome in Perth, before playing in Melbourne on March 3 and 4.
They will then move to Brisbane Entertainment Centre for two shows on March 8 and 9, before finishing up at Sydney’s Acer Arena on March 11 and 12.
Coldplay has not toured Australia since June 2006, when they sold out a total of ten arenas shows and played to more than 100,000 people.
A pre-sale for all shows will start at 9am local times on November 27.
Tickets go on sale to the general public via Tickets on December 4.
Nelson would be “very happy” if Costello seeks leadership

Federal Opposition Leader Brendan Nelson today said he’d be “very happy” if Peter Costello sought the leadership.
The battle for the Liberal’s top job continues following comments by Liberal frontbencher Tony Abbott, who declared Mr Costello the party’s “best political asset”.
When asked if he considered Mr Abbott’s comments a slap in the face, Dr Nelson lavished praise on Mr Costello and said he was attending a dinner in his honour in Melbourne tonight.
He said his colleague was “a truly great Australian”, and that Australia was a “stronger, more prosperous and confident country as a result of Peter’s management of the economy”.
“Peter’s made his decision that he did not seek the leadership of the party,” Dr Nelson told reporters in Sydney today.
“As I’ve said before, I’d be very happy if he changes his mind – that’s his business.”
Mr Costello has ruled out challenging for the leadership but has not said what he will do if his colleagues draft him into the top job.
He is due to release his memoirs next month, when he is expected to reveal whether he will stay in parliament or leave politics.
Mr Costello’s ambiguity about his future has stoked conjecture about Dr Nelson’s leadership, which has been marred by poor opinion polls and some clumsy explanations of coalition policy.
Dr Nelson yesterday defended Mr Costello following an attack on him in parliamentary question time, and described him as “a great Australian”.
A spokesman for Dr Nelson later said the opposition leader had been referring to Mr Costello’s future in parliament, rather than his leadership intentions.
“What Dr Nelson was referring to is that he would be very happy for Mr Costello to stay on in parliament,” the spokesman said.
