India’s first electric car designed by REVA is leading the Indian Climate Solutions Road Tour around the country to highlight (advanced technology) solutions and raise awareness about global climate change.
Powered by lithium-ion batteries and solar cells, Chetan Maini, CEO of REVA, says that the lightweight design is all about preventing further pollution in cities.
I think today the awareness of the climate change in the youth is very critical and what REVA is trying to do is to create technologies that will enable such drives to happen. The cars, which we have here are powered by special lithium-ion battery technology. They have solar cells that directly charge batteries plus they have energy management system that enhances the car’s range from 150 to 200 kilometers,’ said Chetan Maini, Chief Executive officer of REVA Electric Car Company (RECC).
But while the model is welcome by environmentalists … it faces competition by Tata’s Nano, … the world’s cheapest car.
Bangalore-based REVA rolls out 800 models per year….
