Using less petrol: Fuel saving tips
Online petrol price monitor Motormouth.com.au shows motorists on the Coast paying between $1.12 a litre and almost $1.14 a litre.
The price at Underwood and Deception Bay was $1.08.
“If prices continue to fall the way they are, we will see petrol selling for a dollar a litre or less during Christmas,” Mr Kershaw said.
“Oil refinery prices are coming down, which is good news, but it remains to be seen if this trend will last.”
It has been more than 12 months since south-east Queensland motorists saw prices below $1.10.
The drop in prices is attributed to the slowing economy and its impact on fuel demand.
